This tomato puree is made with a variety of tomatoes grown in dry. This technique enhances the typical characteristics of tomato, and produces a low calorie food (only 17 kcal/1OO grams) extremely rich in antioxidant substances, such as lycopene, beta carotene (vitamin A) and vitamin C.
Lycopene, which in this variety is found in much higher percentage than in traditional tomatoes, besides bestowing the characteristic intense red colour is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants. Studies have proved that lycopene protects cells from free radicals and against neurodegenerative diseases.
